Comcast SMTP / Thunderbird woes

Has anyone else here experienced problems recently with sending e-mail 
through Comcast's SMTP server? 

I keep getting "An error occurred while sending mail.  The mail server 
responded: permit denied.  Please verify that your email address is 
correct in your Mail preferences and try again."
