Why do you say that? Both IBM and HP have been in the Linux business for a long time (with HP - tracing its roots through DEC since 1994 - I believe that at the 1994 BCS MegaMeeting that DEC's Jim Paradis was demoing a DEC Alpha with Linux running.). But both companies have been very friendly toward Linux. Also note that HP runs a free testdrive where you can get a free account and log into any number of Linux, HP-UX, VMS or Tru64Unix machines. (http://www.testdrive.hp.com). These are provided primarily for small independent software vendors to help them port their software when they can't get a loaner or afford to buy a system. For the most part, Red Hat provides support for RHEL and Novell (SuSE) provides support for SLES. Both IBM and HP are working directly with Red Hat and Novell, but both also support Debian and other distros. -- Jerry Feldman <gaf at blu.org> Boston Linux and Unix user group http://www.blu.org PGP key id:C5061EA9 PGP Key fingerprint:053C 73EC 3AC1 5C44 3E14 9245 FB00 3ED5 C506 1EA9
