Fidelity Investments Systems Company (FISC) has a current opportunity
for a Principal Systems Services & Support Analyst (Unix
Administrator) focused on maintaining critical production systems
running AIX for key business units. This position may be located in
any one of the following locations: Boston, MA, Marlborough, MA,
Merrimack, NH, Dallas, TX or Westlake, TX.


Duties & Responsibilities:

? Maintain critical systems for a key business units supported by FISC
Operations.  Perform AIX operating system upgrades, installations, and
support application migrations.  Perform basic operating systems
support functions.
? Provide for highly available and reliable systems to critical
customers through attention to detail, thorough planning and
procedures, and accurate documentation.
? Respond quickly to customer requests while strictly following all
required change policies and procedures.

? Ensure the customer adheres to corporate standards and does not
expose themselves to unnecessary risks.

? Ensure customers systems conform to all security requirements and
address any audit related items in a timely manner.

? Participates substantively in strategic customer planning of new
implementations and migrations of existing platforms.
? Meet regularly with customers and address any concerns, provide
timely updates of action items, and escalate to management any serious
issues arising with the customer.
? Work with-in a technical team of Unix System Administrators.
? Perform oncall duties required and support change work that will
include nights and weekends at times.
? Interact with vendors and other support teams to resolve technical
issues and implement solutions.

Qualifications

? Ability to quickly learn new technologies.

? Ability to perform as a team member, adapt quickly to changes, and

policies.


3+ years experience with at least three of the following:

? Providing customer support for critical systems in an operational
environment.

? Performing AIX operating system maintenance, performance tuning and
troubleshooting.

? Working with vendors to analyze system outages or errors, identify
root cause, apply appropriate maintenance and validate remediation of
the issue.

? Support of IBM's Power4 and/or Power5 Technologies.

? Support and configuration of AIX Logical Volume Manager (LVM)
volumes and filesystems.

? Support and configuration of Veritas Volume Manager (VxVM) volumes
and filesystems.

5+ years experience with some or all of the following:
? Senior IBM AIX administration skills; intimately familiar with AIX 5.X.
? Ability to solve problems quickly and completely.
? Solid understanding of Unix security.
? Strong scripting skills including knowledge of shell scripts, Perl
programming, and ssh.

? A solid understanding of High Availability concepts, processes, and
procedures.
? A solid understanding of networking, distributed computing concepts,
storage area networks and other forms of shared storage, system
partitioning using LPARs, the design of large shared filesystem
layouts.
? Strong interpersonal and communication skills; capable of writing
proposals, acting as a customer liaison, making presentations to
customers or peers, and working closely with upper management

Desirable:

? Intimately familiar with Veritas Cluster Server or some equivalent
High Availability Clustering Technology.
? Intimately familiar with IBM HACMP and add-on products.

? A degree in computer science or a related field.
? Senior Sun Solaris administration skills; intimately familiar with
Solaris 8 and above.
? Extensive programming or scripting background in any language.
