I setup Lamp and Joomla on both Ubuntu and Debian Etch. Here are the packages, modules and config to get going $ sudo aptitude install apache2 mysql-server libapache2-mod-php5 libapache2-mod-python php5-mysql Note the addition of php5-mysql to the original postings sudo vi /etc/php5/apache2$/php.ini find and enable the following lines by removing the ' ; ' in the front of each line extension=mysql.so extension=gd.so Debian has some different MySql configuration that Ubuntu. This is a brief summary in case anyone is interested. if anyone is interested I'll post more. I think that Joomla will be fun!
