> I know there is a new release of Ubuntu, and wanted to know if it was > getting good reviews from folks installing it. I have seen many rave reviews. I have also seen a steady but small stream of issues on Ubuntu forums, mailing lists. Advice is not to do upgrades with syn/apt/i[ct]ude/anymore. If using upgrade manager, only from Feisty, don't try to skip. If installing over, re-partitioning BEFORE so /home and /var/local are separate filesystems is convenient. If you have a non-critical machine that has common hardware (including common closed drivers), go for it. I would only do a critical machine via a live-disk preview (to capture settings that work) and with a backup/backout plan, but that should go without saying for any major upgrade on critical systems, right? -- Bill [hidden email] [hidden email] -- This message has been scanned for viruses and dangerous content by MailScanner, and is believed to be clean. _______________________________________________ Discuss mailing list [hidden email] http://lists.blu.org/mailman/listinfo/discuss
