I saw this on the SuSE Linux discussion list. While the OS here is only versions of SuSE, it is relevant to us as a basis for comparison. http://www.hermit.org/Linux/Benchmarking/ But, there is a grain of salt. First, not all applications are native 64-bit. Secondly, as we have discussed, some Firefox plugins are not available in 64-bit versions, forcing the use of 32-bit Firefox. For some people, it is better to use a 32-bit OS. IMHO, a lot of these issues will be resolved in time as native 32-bit chips start to disappear from the Desktop and Laptop markets. At point I published the Intel and AMD roadmaps showing that they would no longer manufacture 32-bit CPUs. -- Jerry Feldman <[hidden email]> Boston Linux and Unix user group http://www.blu.org PGP key id:C5061EA9 PGP Key fingerprint:053C 73EC 3AC1 5C44 3E14 9245 FB00 3ED5 C506 1EA9 _______________________________________________ Discuss mailing list [hidden email] http://lists.blu.org/mailman/listinfo/discuss
