The 8800GT seems to be a great card, excellent bang for the buck and a good review at Anandtech: http://www.anandtech.com/video/showdoc.aspx?i=3140&p=3 I was thinking of getting one to replace my 6600GT so I can really enjoy ET: Quake Wars (Linux binaries available, thanks Id Software!). But, I decided to hold off as a quick Google turned up too many users saying they can't get it work with the existing driver. However, support may be here soon: http://www.phoronix.com/scan.php?page=news_item&px=NjE1OQ Wait a month and the prices should drop as demand settles down, I reckon because of all the glowing reviews that demand is high and the retailers are pricing accordingly.
