I have a couple servers in colo, and a month ago I installed MyDNS with a PostgreSQL backend to manage the name servers. I was intending to use a web based DNS configuration tool to make my life easier. Then, two weeks ago, after running for years without a problem, I'm getting a rash of spontaneous reboots. The only thing that has really changed is the addition of MyDNS. No sign in /var/log/messages or or security, they look normal and have information before and after the reboot. The servers have IP tables running as a firewall and are pretty secure. There are only a few standard ports open, ssh, http, https, dns, pop3, and imap. Looking around I noticed a number of security bulletins on buffer overflows in MyDNS. Has anyone seen this with 1.10? Is it just not worth using? I have restored named, and killed mydns to see if the reboots stop. Does anyone know of a newer version? 1.10 is from 2006. -- This message has been scanned for viruses and dangerous content by MailScanner, and is believed to be clean. _______________________________________________ Discuss mailing list [hidden email] http://lists.blu.org/mailman/listinfo/discuss
