When I was working for the IRS, I found reception on my street had gone down hill. I liked to use SmarTraveler so I could chose a route to work based on traffic. In the case of Cingular/AT&T, it was Cingular that bought AT&T Wireless, and service improved after that. Subsequently, Cingular's parent, SBC bought AT&T, and both rebranded to AT&T. I have not seen a recent survey of coverages in this area. I just happen to know that I get poor coverage in my home with AT&T, but I also know that Verizon is even worse in my neighborhood. One of the reasons for cell coverage inconsistencies is that some communities have blocked the installation of cell towers. The bottom line is that both Verizon and AT&T have reasonable coverage in this area. For my friend, he needs a carrier that he and his wife can use in Dover-Foxcroft Maine, and that excludes AT&T. -- -- Jerry Feldman <[hidden email]> Boston Linux and Unix PGP key id: 537C5846 PGP Key fingerprint: 3D1B 8377 A3C0 A5F2 ECBB CA3B 4607 4319 537C 5846 _______________________________________________ Discuss mailing list [hidden email] http://lists.blu.org/mailman/listinfo/discuss
