I see today they announced the beta release of 8.04 LTS: http://www.ubuntu.com/testing/hardy/beta The "pain point" that leads people to use the LTS version is dealing with OS upgrades. Not having to do an upgrade for two years (or whatever it is) seems quite attractive at the outset of the LTS cycle, but much less so when you're setting up a new system halfway in to the LTS cycle and you see how aged the features of the release are in comparison to the current releases. It's too bad it isn't possible to install whatever happens to be the current release, and just select an "LTS" repository to pull security updates from. Of course maintaining security updates for multiples releases for multiple years is costly. -Tom -- Tom Metro Venture Logic, Newton, MA, USA "Enterprise solutions through open source."
