Thanks for reading this. I'm working on a laptop that won't start, and I'm trying to recover the data from the hard drive. Since the machine appears dead, I assume it's not a hard drive that's bad. The drive is a Hitachi Travelstar, Model # HTS541080G9AT00 ATA/IDE 80 GB unit. If you have, or know where I can get, a test jig, adaptor, or other method to attach this drive to another laptop and/or desktop so I can get the data off it, please let me know. TIA.
