chrome

Maybe everybody already knows this, but at least on ubuntu, there's
chrome, which is branded by google, and chromium-browser, which isn't.
In theory they're using the same code, but chromium-browser is often a
bit ahead, so has some problems fixed (or introduced).

I think it's the following lines in sources.list that get me
chromium-browser updates:

deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/chromium-daily/ppa/ubuntu jaunty main
deb-src http://ppa.launchpad.net/chromium-daily/ppa/ubuntu jaunty main

I used it pretty intensively last summer, when it still wasn't running
flash. For me the dealbreaker was that I couldn't add a new post to my
wordpress blog, although most features of wordpress work fine.

I just tested the current version, and I can use flash (play a youtube
video) if I say "chromium-browser --enable-plugins". I think I did
something to get the 64 bit firefox flash plugin set up for
chromium-browser; it might have been what it says to do on this page:

Many that live deserve death. And some that die deserve life. Can you
give it to them? Then do not be too eager to deal out death in
judgment.
