run servers. I would subscribe to them if I didn't live so far away = from my CO. Peter ----- Original Message -----=20 From: Chuck Young=20 To: Abhishake Pathak ; discuss at blu.org=20 Sent: Monday, March 11, 2002 10:31 AM Subject: RE: unblock port 80 So, who is your ISP? If you have determined it is your ISP, check their latest acceptable = use/end-user policy. If "servers are prohibited" you will likely need = to find another service provider. From what I've seen on this list, most consumer grade ISP's prohibit = servers, but either look the other way or do a lousy job of enforcing = the policy with ingress filtering. I would not announce your intention = to violate the terms of service to the ISP unless you want to be = disconnected without refund/recourse. FWIW, most consumer services a) don't want you wasting their bandwidth = (they are in the business of providing hungry consumers with commercial = content) and b) restrict servers to "protect" their subscribers from = hackers and the DOS, liability, etc. that comes from such activity. = Someday, the end user as well as the negligent ISP will be sued for = these hacking related losses. Look for an ISP that encourages responsible use of servers (?) Good = luck. --------------- Chuck Young Security Consulting Genuity E-Services --------------------=20 -----Original Message----- From: discuss-admin at blu.org [mailto:discuss-admin at blu.org]On Behalf = Of Abhishake Pathak Sent: Monday, March 11, 2002 10:11 AM To: discuss at blu.org Subject: unblock port 80 is there anyway i would be able to unblock port 80 or somehow work = around it (my ISP has it blocked) so that i can have my webserver = working? -------------------------------------------------------------------------= --- Do You Yahoo!?
