PC's.  This leads me to wonder - even if you enable it in the kernel - if the
data must be "enabled" to be present in the BIOS, or shadowed somewhere down
low for the query to even return valid data.

If it is "disabled" in BIOS, do you just get whatever garbage is in the buffer
or a null string?  Or does it not matter whether the CPU ID is disabled at
all?

Sparcs do not seem to have this problem...
