The BIOS settings that must be enabled for VT-x support vary depending on the system vendor. See the VMware knowledge base article at http://kb.vmware.com/kb/1003944 for information about how to determine if VT-x support is enabled. > > The host OS doesn't matter. I think one of my problems is a cockpit error. We have Oracle 11G installed on another system with the client installed on a mounted /usr/local. So one issue with XE is that I would have to use $ORACLE_HOME/bin/sqlplus. VMWare Player as well as VirtualBox all default to NAT. For this installation, since it is on someone else's workstation, I wanted to use 'bridged' so I could ssh into the VM. Fortunately, I think all the class attendees have 64-bit Thinkpads with either 64-bit Windows 7 or 32-bit XP. The other coworker who was supposed to test an install dropped the ball. But, another coworker took the USB drives home and she works about 20 hours a day. -- Jerry Feldman <gaf at blu.org> Boston Linux and Unix PGP key id:3BC1EB90 PGP Key fingerprint: 49E2 C52A FC5A A31F 8D66 C0AF 7CEA 30FC 3BC1 EB90
