nVidia's binary blob drivers for Linux are much, much better than ATI's 
binary blob drivers for Linux. Open source drivers are hit or miss right 
now. nVidia is finally opening things up which puts the whole thing in 
flux. I expect to see big improvements on that front what with Valve 
expecting to ship nVidia-equpped Steam Machines and maybe ATI-equipped 
Steam Machines next year.

Right now? I'd wait a little bit until the Steam Machine hardware specs 
are finalized and then use those as a reference.
