[Discuss] Putting Hyper-V images on Samba share

I'm trying to put Hyper-V images (vhdx) on a standalone Samba share.
When I try, Hyper-V says it has no permission to modify the attachment
(that is, attaching the image file as a vdisk). Samba's logs say it is
"unable to map SID S-1-15-3-1024-blah-blah-blah to uid or gid".

I do not have a Domain. I am not using winbind.

How do I associate this SID to a UID on the Samba server?
