[Discuss] Group in Rhode Island interested in Linux etc

Hi Randall,

You're doing a really great thing, and doing it well. You and your
fellow group members should be proud, because it's not so easy to
generate interest in Linux or BSD (your only mainline choices for
non-corporate operating systems, as far as I know). Back in 1999 it was
trivial to start a Linux group as long as you had a meeting place, but
back then Linux was a revolution, whereas today it's just an operating
system.

I applaud your focus on non-corporate. When I started Linux in 1998, my
focus was 80% on non-corporate, and 20% on Unix, which had stood the
test of time as a capable OS whose adherents got paid good money.

By CC of this email, I'm going to ask my home team group, GoLUG, whether
we should pay more attention to "non-corporate" when talking about our
group.

Thanks for doing this. I wish there were more like you.
