[Discuss] Future of X11 (was Trying to connect to internet in Debian)



My #1 required feature is the ability to run over a network.
I do this ALL THE TIME with my servers.

If my windowing system can't do that, then I'm going to push hard against it.

And no, using RDP and its ilk is NOT an equivalent function.  I want to be
able to SSH to my server using my Kerberos or Certificate-based SSO and
run applications remotely -- Emacs, GnuCash, or any other application I
need to run.  I don't want to have to "login", sending my username and
password over whatever protocol is being used, guessing at the security
level (if any).

X11 over SSH is a perfect solution.
