Honestly not sure. It's an interesting question though.


sshfs allows locally run GUI programs to open remote resources.

KDE has something like "fish" built-in for their tools, and VS Codium 
supports it with a plugin.


I'm honestly kind of surprised how many people here are running 
graphical programs across a network.


Especially with "servers", which generally do not have any GUI installed 
anyway.


It does seem that Wayland's lack of support for this feature will affect 
an asymptotically small number of users.
