problem with Netscape/Fonts..

I am having a terrible time in trying to run netscape and be able to
read the fonts. They are all ineligible. I have tried to compile the
alternate xfstt (for true type fonts), and run those, however that
doesn't seem to work either. Currently if I try to run xfs, I receive
the following error message:

xfs error: Fatal font server error:
xfs error: Element #0 (starting at 0) of font path is bad or has a bad
font:
"/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/misc:unscaled,/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/75dpi:unscaled,/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/100dpi:unscaled,/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/misc,/usr/share/fonts/default/Type1,/usr/share/fonts/ttfonts/,/usr/share/fonts/ttfonts/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/Type1,/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/Speedo,/usr/share/fonts/default/Type1,/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/75dpi"

Aborted (core dumped)
[ed at babylon ed]$

If I issue a 'ls /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts"

[ed at babylon ed]$ ls /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts

PEX Speedo Type1 misc

I also had to comment out the following line from my XF86Config file as
well.

#FontPath "unix/:-1"

when it's uncommented I am unable to run startx.

If I issue a "/usr/sbin/chkfontpatH" I receive the following:

Current directories in font path:
1: /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/misc:unscaled
2: /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/75dpi:unscaled
3: /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/100dpi:unscaled
4: /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/misc
5: /usr/share/fonts/default/Type1
6: /usr/share/fonts/ttfonts/
7: /usr/share/fonts/ttfonts

Any help will be extremely appreciated.

Thanks in advance.
Ed
