Charles C. Bennett, Jr. <ccb at valinux.com> writes: | Man, this hits a nerve. | | How do you feel about the difference between the Audi A4 and the | Volkswagen Passat? Notice the price spread between a Dodge Grand | Caravan and a Chrysler Town & Country? Ever run into a product that | was clearly made by Company A at price $Z being sold by Company B at | price $Y with no trace of Company A anywhere on the packaging or | advertising? | | In the political economy that we live in it is your moral | responsibility to maximize your (plural) self interest, however you | conceive that to be. Anything else is an existential no-no. Even | heartfelt altruism *must* be read by others as a way of maximizing | your self interest. Hmmm ... Interesting. You've clearly informed the members of this list about your ethical standards. I trust that most readers will note the name Charles Bennett and the address ccb at valinux.com, and remember that they stand for taking every possible advantage of a customer to con them into spending as much as possible for something they want to buy. And tricking them into paying for something different than what they wanted is ok, too; you can then charge them again for an "upgrade" that amounts to simply enabling something that they already paid for. Most people have the sense to not admit to such predatory attitudes around the potential marks. I hope you don't speak for valinux ... - Subcription/unsubscription/info requests: send e-mail with "subscribe", "unsubscribe", or "info" on the first line of the message body to discuss-request at blu.org (Subject line is ignored).
