connectivity

Earlier today I wrote of how I finally managed to ssh from work to
home, and how it could be a bit sluggish to use X.

Well, now I am home and have ssh-ed on my local ethernet, and guess
what, there is overhead in doing ssh. (Surprise, surprise!) Doing X
between the basement and upstairs is detectably slower over ssh than
in the clear. Not bad, but noticeable.
