KDE vs. GNOME session management

I have recently started using dolphin as my file manager after Nautilus
started bugging me with the way it presents things. I find Dolphin to be
way more intuitive, though it does have some odd .... quirks ... that
took a while to get used to, for example when you cut/copy files into it
from else where. Other than that I rather like it ..

Features I like ...
keeps a folder/file tree on the left at all times, and an 'info about
the item you click on" on the right .

It does icon view, details view, and something very like the MAC file
manager called columns...

It has a nice 'split' feature too that shows two file managers side by
side which makes it easy to drag files from one place to another ....

handles full file previews with clickless mouseover (good for image
searching)

Definitely worth a try
