And the spooky thing was it was as if I and an invisible read-only 
switch on a micro SD card!

I'm actually pleased. I don't trust flash memory, it is flaky. So I 
admire that this Samsung part also doesn't trust flash memory, and it 
noticed a problem before the little thing bricked. (A very small brick, 
but still.)
