Sure text where text is text, ssh rules. Have you ever used ssh to connect to your home machine to run a graphical program (like a browser) to get data? You should seriously try X11 over ssh, it is absolutely amazing. In a LAN, it is almost indistinguishable from local. (Well, maybe not that good) but X11 over network is a useful tool.
