Summary

How open-source tools are changing the practice of network management

Abstract

Shane discusses the effect of the open source revolution on network/systems management and compares technology in commercial platforms to open source alternatives. He also demonstrates OpenNMS software.

Bio

Shane speaks regularly on network management and business topics at international user groups and industry events. Shane's recent focus is on leveraging Open Source tools in network management and building the Open Source developer community at OpenNMS.org. Shane is a certified OpenView consultant and has created and taught network & systems management classes for clients such as Hewlett-Packard, Wal-Mart, and State Farm Insurance, as well as creating and deploying the latest network management platform configuration for AT&T's Global Customer Support Center.
