Open letter to pfarrar at learningco.com - Sir, My various email software packages all have the very useful ability of keeping related email messages together as long as their Subject: lines remain intact. ("intact" being defined by well-known practice and convention) I therefore hope you'll permit me to beg you to please, Please, PLEASE stop allowing your email software to mangle the Subject: lines. When you give your Subject: lines the Frankenstein treatment by inserting that very nonstandard Re[2]: stuff, my email software can no longer keep the related email messages threaded. Since Re[2]: conveys no useful information beyond the standard Re: there would be no harm in discontinuing the practice, and demonstrable benefit to all. Regards, --------------------------------- Michael O'Donnell mod at std.com --------------------------------- P.S. Please read no ill-will into this message since it wasn't written with any... - Subcription/unsubscription/info requests: send e-mail with "subscribe", "unsubscribe", or "info" on the first line of the message body to discuss-request at blu.org (Subject line is ignored).
