Open letter to pfarrar at learningco.com -


 Sir,

 My various email software packages all have the very useful
 ability of keeping related email messages together as long as
 their Subject: lines remain intact.  ("intact" being defined
 by well-known practice and convention)  I therefore hope
 you'll permit me to beg you to please, Please, PLEASE stop
 allowing your email software to mangle the Subject: lines.

 When you give your Subject: lines the Frankenstein treatment
 by inserting that very nonstandard Re[2]: stuff, my email
 software can no longer keep the related email messages
 threaded.  Since Re[2]: conveys no useful information beyond
 the standard Re: there would be no harm in discontinuing the
 practice, and demonstrable benefit to all.
