What's eth0:9? (Re: WiFi with mandrake



eth0:9 is a sub interface of eth0

the 169 address is what an interface is assigned until it successfully 
polls a DHCP server for an address.

sub interfaces are only dependent on their parent in that the parent 
interface must be enabled/up. It doesn't matter if it has an IP or not.
