Re: hdtv purchase now or later?

Well, I decided it was time now, because I liked the picture I was
getting on the PC with the card, and because I wanted to watch the
baseball playoffs.

I had also read that there's a current oversupply of the screens,
which is leading to locally low prices, and is likely to get corrected
as they become a standard consumer item.

But if I were going just on price, the idea of waiting until after the
Superbowl (maybe the Washington's Birthday sales?) is a good one.

And of course, it will be interesting to see what happens in the
beginning of 2009 when all the people who haven't ever thought about
it are finally having to think about it. The law of supply and demand
can of course lead prices to become either higher or lower, but
electronics does tend to get cheaper.

If anyone needs a 19 inch SD TV, my old one is out on the street in
front of 233 Broadway in Cambridge. In spite of there being 3 people
in the band that meets at my house who don't have TV's, none of them
wanted it even for free. It works as well as it did in 1985.

Anyway, what I got was a Sharp 32" 1080p for $1000 from Newegg. It
arrived yesterday. The TV and the DVD look good. Today, I hook it up
to a free computer with an Nvidia card that was cluttering up
somebody's office.
