Advice on new system for Linux

A 250 is overkill for anything you can do in Linux today except
for some very specialized apps -- like rendering a movie. A 220
is pretty much as much as anyone can use. 

There are both open source and closed source drivers for
NVidia. The closed source drivers are needed for most advanced
features that would justify buying a card like this in the first
place.

I don't think there will be a problem.
