A talk about PGP and GnuPG, followed by a keysigning party. Register your key in advance to participate!
A key signing party is a get-together of people who use the PGP\nencryption system with the purpose of allowing those people to\nsign each others keys. Key signing parties serve to extend the\nweb of trust to a great degree. Key signing parties also serve\nas great opportunities to discuss the political and social\nissues surrounding strong cryptography, individual liberties,\nindividual sovereignty, and even implementing encryption\ntechnologies or perhaps future work on free encryption software.\n\nThe purpose of the meeting is to authenticate each\nother, i.e. verify everybody's key ids and key\nfingerprints. Participants sign each others' keys offline.\n\nIn order to complete the keysigning in the allotted time,\nwe follow a formal procedure as seen in V. Alex Brennen's\n"GnuPG Keysigning Party HOWTO", attached below. It is strongly\nadvised that if you have not been to a keysigning party before,\nyou read this document.\n\nWe're using the List-based method for this keysigning party,\nand the keyserver at pgp.mit.edu. It is essential that,\nbefore the meeting, you register on the signup form listed in\nthe attachments. You should bring at least one picture ID with\nyou. You must also bring your own printout of the report on\nthat page, so you can check off the names/keys of the people\nyou have personally verified.\n\nThe list will be printed on Wednesday afternoon, the \nday of the meeting; be sure to register your key for the \nkeysigning before that. The official cutoff time is 3:00 pm.\n\nAlso, in addition to the PGP/GnuPG event, Bill Horne will\nbe available to certify ID's as a Thawte Notary. Bill will\nrequire two government-issued ID's and a copy of each for Bill\nto keep. Bill says he'll waive his fee for the occasion.\n
