That is correct. M1X will not let any traffic through unless it has the registered MAC address. If you change MAC addresses, M1X will also assign you a new IP address. I don't know the extent of the code in the cable modem. Unfortunately, Derek Martin's email has had some problems, and may not get to him. When I switched NICS a while back, it took about 5 mins for the tech to update the database. At that time it took a few days for the new IP address to get into the DNS server, but I think that they have this process more under control these days. -- Jerry Feldman (HP On-Site Consultant) http://gbrweb.msd.ray.com/~gzf/ +-------------------------------------------------------+-----Note: ------+ | Raytheon Electronic Systems (W) (781)999-1837/1-1837 | My views may not| | Mail Stop: S3SG10 (F) (781)999-4030/1-4030 | reflect the | | 180 Hartwell Road (W) gzf at gbr.msd.ray.com | views of my | | Bedford, MA 01730-2498 (FWD:H+W) gaf at blu.org | employer. | +-------------------------------------------------------+-----------------+ - Subcription/unsubscription/info requests: send e-mail with "subscribe", "unsubscribe", or "info" on the first line of the message body to discuss-request at blu.org (Subject line is ignored).
