I too am angry at the Well, you could join my BizTalk mailing list and continue it there. That's what I set it up for. On almost every mailing list I'm on, at some point members went off-topic with things like outsourcing, the economy, big bad businesses, job prospects, industry trends, etc. So I set up BizTalk to address those kinds of discussions, freeing up the other lists for what they were meant for. Right now it is a little shy of critical mass to get very long discussions going, but I'm going to be doing another round of advertising this weekend to get more members. http://www.bostongeeks.com/mailman/listinfo/biztalk (bostongeeks.com is another domain on my machine) > future has arrived, everyone is looking back and looking for solutions. The solution is obvious to me. 1) We need to convince employer that we are willing to work much more cheaply (AKA realistic salaries) than we were in the past, in exchange for more people locally having jobs, but with the same energy, quality, and know-how we had at the top of the boom. We can still compete on quality if our price is a lot closer to offshore. I, for one, would accept a job for 60K or 70K doing what I was doing before. Maybe even less if it was good work. 2) C.O's and VP's need to be held accountable for their performance, so they only get the (m|b)illion dollar bonuses and parachutes if they do good work for the company. Once that's in place, there will be plenty of money to hire a few more geeks at the reduced rate. Not that this will happen. Just sayin'. -- DDDD David Kramer david at thekramers.net http://thekramers.net DK KD "At the center of the universe is a loving heart that continues to DKK D beat and that wants the best for every person.
