HDTV storage needs

Depends on your cable box, your cable provider, your firewire card, the
phase of the moon and... Some people luck out and can record every
channel via their cable box's firewire output no problem, others only
get a few channels, others get nothing.

Same resolution and data rate it comes to the cable box at from the head
end.
