Thank you !
   " rpm --nosignature" & importing keys are new topics for me - I will
research further..
Success!

[root at bmc-33 ~]# rpm --nosignature -iv xdg-utils-1.0.2-2.el5.noarch.rpm
Preparing packages for installation...
        package xdg-utils-1.0.2-2.el5.noarch is already installed

[root at bmc-33 ~]# rpm --nosignature -iv R-2.9.0-1.rh5.x86_64.rpm
Preparing packages for installation...
R-2.9.0-1.rh5

You don't have the rpm gpg key for whatever repo the xdg-utils package
came from installed on that box. So either find the key and import it,
or just install the package by hand using rpm, or install it using
'yum --nogpgcheck ...'
