fdisk -l Blocks question on + sign

I wondered that myself until I discovered the plus signs correspond to
partitions continuing from the next contiguous block.   I'll bet if you resize
/dev/hda9 and create /dev/hda10, /dev/hda9 would have a plus sign next to it's
block entry.
