Ubuntu weird characters in PuTTY

Sorry, I haven't been paying very close attention to this thread, but based
solely on the statement above, not using mono-spaced fonts for your terminal
could be part of the problem.

I've tried several times to use fancy fonts in my terminal, and something
always ends up annoying me and I go back to mono-spaced fonts (but even some
of those look better than others...)
