Either native or using ndiswrapper the windows driver is required for 
the BCM4312. If native, then fwcutter is required.

I have a broadcom 802.11db/g card (linksys) that requires using 
ndiswrapper and because of that requires blacklisting the kernel module.

Your mileage may vary.
