DRBD Replicas

I have an old server (OLD) running 32-bit Debian, with about 2 dozen Xen instances, each on its own LVM2 volume. I want to migrate everything to a new server (NEW) running 64-bit Debian as the dom0, then rebuild OLD with 64-bit Debian and use it to replicate the critical volumes from NEW. So two questions:

1. Can DRDB be configured with a single node (no replication) to start?

2. How difficult is it to add replicas to DRDB after the fact?
