backups

When I worked for a data center, I was asked to test the backups we managed.
So depending on your contract, ask to have it tested, bring the server up
and try
to run the applications you have on them. If they all work, the test is
passed, if not
the test fails. But it should not disrupt your production servers. The
management
company may want to charge for their service, and within reason it should be
considered a proper business expense.

I don't like 'black box' scenario's that I can't test either. And it does
help my confidence
it I know what is 'behind the curtain'.

All backups are like insurance policies. Both the customer and the provider
hope
they never have to be used.
